Yellowstone Pictures
Colors of Yellowstone ... toxic, acrid, unreal.
On our quick trip to Yellowstone, Wyoming got in our way. Over many years I've driven on more roads and byways in Wyoming that seems possible and know that the scenery in Wyoming is either bleaker than a wasteland or breathtakingly beautiful. But then, maybe it is just that after hours of seeing nothing but scrub and antelope (lots of antelope and they are beautiful themselves, redeeming the land to a degree) ... maybe after hours of nothing, even a something a little interesting seems breathtaking.
I'll try to focus on the beauty part. You can explore the wasteland on your own.
Fun fact: Wyoming is the least populated state of the Union ... less than even Alaska. It shouldn't even really be a state. The average Wyoming citizen has 50% more influence on Congress than the average US citizen and about 5 times the influence in a Presidential election than a Californian.
First picture is of the Tetons just north of Jackson, an indisputably beautiful area.
Flaming Gorge
We entered Wyoming from the southwest and decided to visit Flaming Gorge. We were going to spend the night and poke around a bit, but after only one day of driving I was already sick and tired of the RV and we decided to just pass by.
Actually, visiting Flaming Gorge by RV isn't that great of an idea. You really need a boat. And the RV doesn't float.
We'll start with Cyndi to get that out of the way.
And while I had to do the hard work of jumping out of the RV and snapping the pics, Cyndi sat in the RV playing with her kitty.
Yes, that last one is still the beautiful part of Wyoming. You should see the wasteland.
Chief Joseph Scenic Byway
We stole his land. We killed his people. So we named a highway after Chief Joseph.
It is a very pretty ride.
Well, we saw more beautiful things, like the Wind River Canyon and a canyon-whose-name-I've-forgotten north of Boulder ... and then there were other things like hours of a Sand River Massacre Highway. But I was tired of driving the RV and tired of taking pictures. So this is the end.
